O.M.D. are an English Electronic Band formed in Wirral Merseyside
in 1978 . The Group consists of Co Founders Andy Mc Cluskey
Vocals / Bass Guitar & Paul Humphreys Keyboards / Vocal along
with Martin Cooper Keyboards / Saxophone & Stuart Kershaw
Drums . Mc Cluskey has been the only constant member. They are
regarded as Pioneers of Electronic Music . O.M.D. combined an
experimental minimalist ethos with Pop sensibilities. Becoming
Key Figures in the emergence of Synth Pop . The Band was also
an early presence in MTV Driven Second Invasion of the U.S. In
1989 creative differences saw Humphreys & other members form
the Spin of Band The Listening Pool . Leaving Mc Cluskey the only
remaining member of O.M.D. The group returned with a new line
up & explored the Dance – Pop Genre Studio Album Sugar Tax (
1991 ) & it’s initial singles were Hit’s in Europe . O.M.D. then
started to flounder amid the Guitar & Brit Pop movements
eventually disbanding in 1996 . Mc Cluskey later conceived Girl
Group Atomic Kitten for whom he served as a principal Songwriter
& Producer . While Humphreys formed the Duo One Two along
side Lead Vocalist Claudia Brucken of Propaganda . In 2006 O.M.D.
reformed with Humphreys & Mc Cluskey revisited the experimental
territory of their early work . The band have achieved 13 Top 20
entries on the UK Album Charts . Their 20th Century output yielded
18 Top 40 appearances on the UK Singles Charts as well a Four Top
40 entries on the US Billboard Hot 100 . Although sometimes
identified as a Cult Band . O.M.D. have sold over 40 Million Records
World Wide & have influenced many Artist across diverse Genres .
