Mavis Staples ( Born July 10th 1939 ) ( Age 84. ). In Chicago Illinois
US. Years Active ( 1950 – 2024 ) . Is a Rhythm & Blues Singer & Civil
Rights Activist. She rose to Fame as a Member of Her Family Band The
Staples Singers of which she is the Last Surviving Member . During her
time in the Group , she recorded Hit Singles I’ll Take You There & Let’s
do it again . In 1969 Mavis Staples released her Self Tittle Debut Solo
Studio Album . Mavis Staples continued to release Solo Albums through-
out ” the Following Decades & Collaborated with Artists such as Aretha
Franklin . Prince , Arcade Fire , Nona Hendryx .Ry Cooder & David Byme.
Her Eight Album Your Not Alone ( 2010 ) Earned Critical Acclaim &
became her First Album as a soloist to reach Number One on the billboard
Charts , peaking atop of The Top Gospel Album Charts . It also earned
Mavis her First Grammy Award win following this , she realised . The
Albums One True Vine ( 2013 ) Livin’ on a High Note (2016 ) If All I Was
Was Black ( 2017 ) & We Get By ( 2019 ) She is also featured on the Single
Nina Cried Power by Hozier . Mavis Staples named as one of the 100
Greatest Singers of all Time by Rolling Sone in 2008 . Mavis Staples was
inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 1999 & In The Gospel Music
