FOXTROT TOUR.
Genesis are an English Progressive Rock Band formed at Charterhouse
School Godalming Surrey in 1967 . The Bands longest existing & most
Commercially successful Line Up Consisted of Keyboardist Tony Banks ,
Bassist & Guitarist Mike Rutherford ( Also in Mike & The Mechanics ) &
Drummer & Singer Phil Collins in the 1970s during which the band included
Singer Peter Gabriel ( Who went Solo amazing ) & Guitarist Steve Hackett
( Also went Solo amazing Guitarist ) . Genesis were among the Pioneers of
progressive Rock Foxtrot is their fourth Studio Album released on 15th
September 1972 on Charisma Records It Features their longest recording
Song , the 23 minute track Suppers Ready . The album was recorded
following the Tour of their previous 3rd Studio Album Nursery Cryme (1971)
Which saw them gain Popularity , including a well received slot at The Great
Express Festival Lincolnshire . The cover was the final Genesis work to be
designed by Paul Whitehead featuring a Fox wearing a red dress Frontman
Peter Gabriel wore the Dress & A Fox’s Head on Stage for the following Tour.
Which gathered Press Attention & raised the Group Profile . Foxtrot was the
First Genesis Album to chart in the UK. reaching number 12 . Received
largely positive reviews. It went to Number One Italy . They had around
400 Gigs in the UK. . But had yet to achieve commercial success . However
they had begun to become Popular abroad . Their (1970 ) 2nd Studio
Album Trespass had reached No. 1 in Belgium while there third Studio
Album Nursery Cryme ( 1971 ) had reached No.4 in Italy , Watcher Of the
Skies Song takes It’s Title from a line 1817 Sonnet on First Looking Into
Christmas Homer by John Keals. The Song begins with a Solo played on
Mellotron . The Band bought from King Crimson Band . This is such
amazing Song . Genesis was very Theatrical with Vocal & Acting with
lots of Costume changes by Peter Gabriel . Is stage presence was just
Amazing .There Debut Studio Album From Genesis To Revelation ( 1969).
They have done 15 Studio Albums & 6 Live Albums , another of my
favourite Studio Albums Selling England By The Pound their Fifth Studio
Studio Album ( 1973 ) & Sixth Studio Album Lamb Lies Down On Broadway
( 1974 ) I saw all their early Tours up to Lamb Lies Down On Broadway .
Saw a lot of early Tours at Preston Public Hall Lune St. Line Up Tony
