Jimmy Layne Webb ( Born August 15th 1946 Age 77 at Elk City Oklahoma
US. Origin Laverne Oklahoma US. . Is an American Songwriter , Composer
& Singer & Pianist . He achieved success at an early age winning the
Grammy Award for Song of the Year at age of 21 years . During his career,
he established himself as one of Americas most Successful & Honoured
Songwriters & Composers . Webb has written numerous Platinum selling
Songs including ” Up , Up & Away ” , ” By The Time I Get To Phoenix ” ,
” Mac Arthur Park ” ” Wichita Linesman ” ” Worst That Could Happen ”
” Galveston ” & ” All I Know ” He had a successful Collaboration’s with
Glen Campbell , Michael Feinstein , The 5th Dimension , the Supremes ,
Linda Ronstadt , Art Garfunkel & Richard Harris . Webb was inducted
into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 1986 & the Nashville Songwriters
Hall Of Fame in 1990 . He Received the National Academy of
Songwriters Lifetime Achievement Award in 1993. History his Father
was a Baptist Minister & Veteran of the United States Marine Corps
who Presided over Rural Churches in Southwestern Oklahoma &
Western Texas . With his Mothers encouragement Webb Learned
Piano & Organ & by the age of 12 was playing in the Choir of his
Father Churches accompanied by his Father on Guitar & his Mother
on Accordion . During the Late 50s applying his Creativity to the
Music he was playing at his Father’s Church frequently improvising
& rearranging Hymns . He began to write Religious Songs . But
the Musical Direction was soon to change influenced by the new
Music being played on the Radio . Including the Music of Elvis
Presley, in 1961 at the age of 14 he bought his first record ” Turn
Around , Look At Me ” by Glenn Campbell . Webb said he was drawn
to the Singers Distinctive Voice & they became friends a few years
later . He wrote over 80 Songs for Glen Campbell & lots of Pop &
Motown . Webb had a close personal relationships with Glen Campbell
& Actor Richard Harris both of whom had Great Success Singing his

Tennessee on August 8th 2017 at the age of 81. will be sadly missed.

Mind in Sickness & In Health with Glen Campbell , a memoir of their
