Steep Canyon Rangers is an American Bluegrass Band Based in Asheville &
Brevard North Carolina originally formed in 2000 . The band has become
widely known since 2009 for collaborating with Actor / Songwriter / Musician
& Banjoist & Comedian Steve Martin . SCR. Performed as a Quintet for nearly
a Decade before Intermittent Touring began as a Sextet with with Steve
Martin . The Band still Performs in both Configurations’ The Steep Canyon
Rangers have recorded 12 Solo Albums Plus Two Collaborative & One Live
Album with Stevie Martin in 2012 , 2014 & 2017 . Their collaboration with
Steve Martin & SCR. ” Rare Bird Alert ” ( 2012 ) was nominated for a Granny
Award fir Best Blue Grass Album . In 2013 , The Steep Canyon Rangers Solo
Studio Album ” Nobody Knows You ” won the Grammy for Best Blue Grass
Album . History ( Early Years ) The Sleep Canyon Rangers formed in 2000
while Students at the University Of North Carolina in Chapel Hill . Over the
Years their has been some member changes Debut Solo Album ” Old
Dreams & New Dreams ” ( 2001 ) Label Step Canyon Music . 2nd Studio
Album ” Mr Taylor’s New Home ” ( 2002 ) Label Bonfire Records 3rd Album

Records . In May 2009 Steep Canyon Rangers were asked by Banjoist &
Comedian & Actor to perform with him ( As a Sextet ) in a Benefit Concert
for The Los Angles Public Library featuring Banjo & Comedy . The First
collaborative performance took place at Club Nokia in Los Angeles
California & was met with much acclaim . Martin subsequently asked
the The Rangers to accompany him on a ” World Bluegrass Tour ” .
Taking the Group to Venues such as Carnegie Hall ( New York ) Royal
Festival Hall ( London ) & The Wang Centre in ( Boston ) . While in England
the Group performed on the critically acclaimed Music TV Show ” Latter
With Jools Holland on June 27 2009 . Steve Martin & SCR were featured
on a Broad Cast ” Of A Praine Home ” soon after Steve Martin played with
the Band at the ” Hardly Strictly Blue Grass Festival in San Francisco &
Benaroya Hall in Seattle . Martin appeared with SCR at the 2010 Bonnaroo
Music Festival & then on Austin City Limits on November 6th 2010 . On
July 4th 2011 Martin & SCR. performed A Capitol Fourth Celebration On
The West Lawn Of The US Capitol Building . In the Summer of 2010
Stevie Martin & SCR. recorded their first collaborative Studio Album “
Rare Bird Alert ” at Echo Mountain Recordings in Asheville NC. The Album
Contained Tracks primarily composed by Martin & featured Guest Vocals
appearances by Paul Mc Cartney & The Dixie Chicks . Origin Brevard North
