This was amazing Venue they had a Rock Concert on Once a Month It

Cost £1 to go in with a Hippy Snack Bar Tea / Coffee & Juices 3 pence &

Curry & Rice 3 shillings those where the days & seated in the round Magic.

Amazing Blondel are an English Acoustic Progressive Folk Band containing

Eddie Baird , John Gladwin & Terry Wincott . Years Active ( 1969 -1977 )

( 1997 – 2005 ) They released a number of LP’s for Island Records in the

early 1970s . They are sometimes categorised as Psychedelic Folk or as

Medieval Folk Rock . But there music was much more reinvention of

Renaissance Music , Based around the use of Period Instruments such

as Lutes & Recorders . History The Band was named after Blondel De

Nesle . The Musician in the court of Richard 1 according to the Legend

when Richard was held Prisoner Blondel travelled through Central

Europe singing at every Castle to locate the King & assist in his Escape.

The Name from the Band was suggested by a Chef Eugene Mc Coy who

Listened to some of their Songs & commented ” Oh Very Blondel ” . &

they began to use that name & they became Amazing Blondel . Their

Debut Studio Album The Amazing Blondel was also called Amazing

Blondel & A Few Faces ” with special guests from Top Progressive

Rock Bands was recorded in 1969 & released by Bell Records . At about

this time Eddie Baird who had know the other members at school &

Joined the Band . On 19th September 1970 they were one of the Bands

to play at the first Glastonbury Festival . Amazing Blondel were introduced

by Members of Free . Who they Toured with I saw them in Nelson Ball-

Room with the originally members of Free who introduced them to

Chris Blackwell of Island Records & Artists . Blackwell signed them up

to Island for whom they Recorded Their Amazing outstanding Albums.

was one of my Favourite Bands from the 70s so very different . I have

seen them many times including a Progressive Rock Club on Avenham

Lane in the heart of Preston Lancs. & A Methodist Church in St Anne’s

on the see in early 1970s Line Up John David Gladwin Vocals & played

12 String Guitar / Lute / Double Bass / Theorbo / Cittern / Tabour &
