Tarkus is the Second Studio Album by English Progressive Rock Band Emerson ,
Lake & Palmer . Released on 4th June 1971 on Island Records , following their
Debut Tour across Europe During the Second Half of1970 . The Group paused
Touring Commitments in January 1971 to record a New Album at Advision
Studios In London Greg Lake Produced the Album with Eddy Offord as Engineer.
Tarkus went to Number One on the UK. Album Chart , becoming the only Album
by the Band to do so . It was a Top Ten Album Worldwide including the US.
where it Peaked at Number Nine . The Album reached Gold Certification in UK.

Adaptation of Pictures At An Exhibition , the Piano Suit by Modest Mussorgsky
Performed at Newcastle City Hall on 26th March 1971 . ( No Set List for

( Informally known as E.L.P. ) Were an English Progressive Rock Supergroup
Formed in London in 1970 the Band Consisted of Keith Emerson Keyboards of
the Nice . Greg Lake Vocals , Bass , Guitars & Producer of King Crimson & Carl
Palmer Drums & Percussion of Atomic Rooster . With Nine RIAA Certified Gold
Record Albums in the US. & an Estimated 48 Million Records Sold Worldwide.
They are one of the most Popular & Commercially Successful Progressive Rock
Groups of the 1970s with a musical sound including adaptions of Classical
Music with Jazz & Symphonic Rock Elements ,dominated Emerson’s Flambo –
yant use of the Hammond Organ , Moog Synthesizer & Piano ( Lake wrote
several Acoustic Songs for the Group . The Band came to Prominence
following their Isle Of White Festival in August 1970 . In their First Year , the
Group signed with E.G. Records ( Who distributed the Bands Records
through Island Records in the United Kingdom & Atlantic Records in North
America & Released their Debut Solo Album ” Emerson Lake & Palmer ”

At An Exhibition ( 1971 ) Fourth Studio Album ” Trilogy ” ( 1972 ) ” Fifth
Studio Album Brain Surgery ( 1973 ) released on E.L.P’s Own Manticore
Label . After a Three Year Break , Emerson . Lake & Palmer Released Works
” Works Vol. 1 ( 1977 ) & Works Vol. 2 ( 1977 ) after ” Love Beach ” The
Group disbanded in 1979 . The Band reformed partially in the 1980 as
Emerson , Lake & Powell in place of Palmer who was by then a member of
Asia , Robert Berry then replaced Lake while returned , Forming 3 in 1991.
The Original Trio Re-formed & Two more Albums ” Black Mood ” (1992 )
& ” In The Hot Seat ” ( 1994 ) & Toured at various Times between 1992 –
1998 , their Final Performance took place in 2010 at the High Voltage
Festival in London to commemorate the Bands 40 Anniversary. Both
Emerson & Lake Died in 2016 & will be sadly missed . Leaving Palmer
as the only Serving Member of the Band . Also Cosy Powell ( 1985 –
1986 ) Sadly Died ( 1998 ) and will be sadly missed .Robert Berry
