Derek William Dick ( Born 25 April 1958 ) Age 66 Edinburgh Scotland. Better
known by his Stage Name Fish is a Scottish Singer , Songwriter & occasional
Actor . He was Lead Singer & Lyricist of the Neo Prog Band Marillion from
1981 until 1988. He released 11 UK Top 40 Singles ” Kayleigh ” ” Lavender”
& ” Incommunicado & Five Top Ten Albums including a number One with
” Misplaced Childhood ” . In his Solo Career , Fish explored Contemporary
Pop & Traditional Folk & released a further Five Top 40 Singles & A Top
Ten Album . Fish’s voice has been descripted as both ” Distinct ” & a
” Conflation of Rodger Daltrey & Peter Gabriel . While his lyrics have been
described as ” Poetic Prose ” . In 2004 Classic Rock ranked Fish at Number
49 0n the List of ” The Greatest Frontman ” Describing his ” Theatrical
Delivery ” as ” A major factor in Marillion’s Spectacular Rise , & he Master-
Minded some uniquely ornate Lyrical Concepts “. In 2009 Fish was voted
at number 37 in a poll of the Greatest Voice in Rock Music by Planet Rock
Listeners . In 2020 Fish released his Final Studio Album Weltschmerz
( German for ) ” World Weariness ” to Critical Acclaim & Commercial success.
Fish toured Weltschmerz & Celebrated the 30th Anniversary of a Vigil In Part
of the Vigil’s end Tour in 2021 . Fish plans to retire following a Farwell Tour
in 2024 . Fish joined Marillion in 1981, the Band gained popularity over the
next couple of Years , leading to the release of their Top Ten Debut Studio
Album ” Script For A Jester Tear in 1983 . Due to the stress of touring & the
detrimental effect it was having on his Health he left Marillion in 1988 to
