DEL AMITRI is a Scottish Alternative Rock Band Formed in Glasgow in 1980.
They are best known for their 1990 Single ” Nothing Ever Happens ” which
reached NO. 11 in the UK & THEIR 1995 Hit ” Roll To Me ” which reached
Top Ten in both Canada & The United States . They have released Seven
Studio Albums Five of which have released the UK Top 10 . Del Amitri has
sold over Six Million . Del Amitri’s Founding Member & Main Songwriter
Justin Currie explained in 2010 the Bands Name ” Was invented to be
meaningless basically a corruption of the Greek Name Dimitri Formations
Early Years ( 1980 -1984 ) Del Amitri grew out of Justin Currie’s Jordan-
hill College School Band whose original Members were Currie Bass &
Vocals , Jamie Scobie Guitars , Donald Bentley Guitars & Paul Tyagi Drums.
In 1984 Del Amitri signed a Recording Contract with Chrysalis Records
which released their Eponymous Debut Studio Album in 1985. As recording
started on their 2nd Studio Album the Line up changed with quite a few
changes in the Early Days . Their 2nd Studio Album ” Waking Hours ”
released in 1989 & reached No 6 on the UK Album Chart & gave the Band
their most successful UK Single ” Nothing Ever Happens ” which peaked at
No 11 . The Line up of Currie , Harvie , Cummings & Mc Dermott proved
to be stable & successful . They stayed together to record their 3rd Studio
Album ” Change Everything ” which was released in 1992 & became the
Bands biggest Cart Success reaching No.13 in the UK . & again provided
them with an entry in the Top 40 in the US. Origin Glasgow Scotland
